We are very happy that our meta-analysis on the clinical course of heater-cooler unit associated M. chimaera infections is now finally published in Clinical Microbiology and Infection (CMI).
M. chimaera is a slow-growing non-tuberculous mycobacterium and member of the M. avium complex. It has been involved in a global outbreak of disseminated infections associated with cardiac surgery. In this review, we summarize the clinical features of 180 cases from the literature, aiming at investigating overall outcome, clinical syndrome and treatment options for those patients.
